Coming Soon to a Journal Near You
|
Do one at a time... I like them all although I am a bit fat so I would be interested in what you have to say! :) I sense you were feeling a bit bitter when you wrote this list? Do it, write about them all most people wouldn't dare to. I would like to write about a lot of subjects but I can not stand people getting mad at me so I just don't! I will be happy to read them! Great entry and thanks for stealing from me cause I feel better about stealing the idea from E pluribus Unum... My husband has van shoes mostly cause those we happened to find to fit! he wears a mens 16 wide so we had a shoe struggle! My husband drives a 94 jeep Cherokee he bought for 750 bucks and everything works in it! Crazy! I also HATE that I bite my nails! I always have and have quit before for as long as six months and then started up again. now i don't even try. Do you know I have a neice that is afraid of mustard and cheese! I love these entries they are so informative [clearlycrzy]

Two Important Women
|
As with your gf, I can somewhat relate to what she's going through. I first got engaged at 19 to my "first love." Anywho, the guy was 23 and pretty much had his fair share of sex, drugs, and partying before he met me when I was 17. Anywho, after the engagement I started freaking out because it felt like everyone was having this "great college experience" whereas I'm about to come the stay at home wife raising kids. Needless to say, it was a very scary feeling. It felt as if my life was already over and I hadn't even reached legal drinking age. I tried going out a few times to party w/ friends, but he often got mad at me. In the end it didn't work out, but for other reasons.
I just think everyone freaks out a bit before they take the next step. It's just a part of life.

It is great that you honor your mother, but you do not HAVE to do any thing. You all gave her advice already, she didn't listen, and then she got srewed. You should tell your mom that as much as your love her and respect her, you didn't make her decisions, and you are planning your own life now which does not include taking care of her any time soon. If you tell her you are hoping to start a family, I hope she will not be so selfish as to try to intrude. As for your girlfriend...she may try this party scene, but if she has never cared to do it before, she may get smashed once and never want to do it again. Maybe you should show her part of this entry. The part where you were talking about regretting the decisions you made. It is ok for her to go to a bar with some friends...but getting involved with heavy drinking and drugs is not. Tell her she is too mature for that. I really hope things work out for you. Don't let your mom do that to you. If she is capable of working, she can get another job. [caffeinefree]

my mom kind of dug herself into a hole too, but it was for a good cause. she's a single mom, and she wanted my two older brothers and i to be able to go to college wherever we wanted, but there was no way she could afford to send us. so we pretty much knew our whole lives we would be paying for our own education after high school. well, in order to make this easy on us, she worked as little as possible as soon as my oldest brother hit high school, and kept blowing off work until i graduated. we did get quite a bit of financial aid, which is awesome, but now she's screwed and it sucks. why not just make it easy and say money sucks in general? love love love [BreathinMusic]

Things that aggravate me . a sock with a hole in it right where a toe is . the evening news . people who make smacking sounds while they are eating! . People who eat while on the phone with me "smack smack smack" .people who think they are right and refuse to listen to a different point of view. . people who assume anything . skinny girls saying they are fat . smugness I could keep going but I had to do some! It made me happy to vent [clearlycrzy]

Eww, why would you want to live forever? Sure hovercrafts seem cool, but everything else seems kinda bleh. I mean let's think about it, not many of the land dwellers sci-fi novels live a great life. They're under some form of opression, there's some disease epidemic that kills millions, people have to wear facial masks cause they can't breathe the air. That just seems like a future that I want no part of. [MissEducated]

Oooh, I'm a muse. I just used popular media examples to just suggest that crime exists. I also believe no matter how exagerrated a piece it, there is a kernel of truth.
For example I'm from Baltimore, the setting for HBO's "The Wire" and a lot of the show's plot was based on Baltimore's own history. With the changing of names, locations, and dates, it was a fairly accurate representation of Bmore politics. While the neighborhood that I lived in was nothing like the one on TV, I knew people who lived in the areas where that stuff did happen. Hell, I know a lot of Baltimorons who were PROUD that "The Wire" kept it real.

Hey now, my father wants to become the first geriatric rapper to go double platinum with his hit song about Viagra. When he retires he wants to go by the name of Dirty Old Man and have gold false teeth with a matching cane. No lie. He's said this to me numerous times in the car as he blasts his LL Cool J.

Proudest Moment
|
Very interesting--Perhaps I need to find my proudest moment. It would seem that our proudest moments include other people--meaning that their presence during this moment, would be the reason for the feeling of pride. But if this is true--it would be extremely difficult for me to find a monent that I could be proud of. [Prosper]

Aww, what a great little story. I don't think I've been in church more than 10 times my entire life....
Anywho, what I write is true unless I say it's not. I've got nothing to gain from lying to people on this site, unless you're giving away Radiohead tickets to kids with cancer. If that be the case, I've got Leukemia and I'm only 7 years old.

maybe i'm too vocal then...but i've said something to people like that. even tho they didn't get out of line and respect the wrong i feel they'd faked people out with....i still got my opinion in, and others heard me so, people weren't looking too nicely at them.
another time, i just put my stuff down and left...again, with some vocal opinions that i made sure were heard.
the trick with being vocal is that you don't want to come off like someone as rude or inconsiderate as they are, so finding the right words, so that your comments come off classy and to the point are tricky.
most of the time tho...we should probably just take it. and be the bigger person. i don't know why. it just feels like we should. lol.[terriberri]

Yep we all have those kinds of people on the job. These kinds of people seem to lack something. I'm not sure as to what it is but its something they clearly did not get as a child. Whatever it may be it seems to cause these kinds of people to desire approval and the only way to get it is by being like the "brown noser" you've described above. [Prosper]

I dont think that age and experience has anything to do with it.... im 24 and my fiancee is 35... i used to be jealous but i realised that all I was doing was pushing him away... However, her level of jealousy seems incredible.... everyone thinks films stars/ music people are sexy.... and as for not even being able to call a dog cute.... thats downright syupid,,,, so what she is saying is that SHE is the only living breathing thing that can be cute???!![georgstasi]

Nobody Wins
|
Well, your point is well noticed my friend. Trust is something that is easy to loose and hard to get, but truly, how can you trust people you've never met in the first place who are supposed to be our 'leaders' when we know nothing but the smut that is slapped in our faces like four day old fish on July highway! (southern lingo, sorry) Really though, I don't believe in our govermental system. We are a strong nation, but we could be MUCH stronger if we stopped freaking out about everything and stopped LYING! I mean really, what kind of hurt is it to tell the truth every once in a while instead of piling on thick layers of musky lies one on top of the other? Nothing comes from fake. xoxox Ash [Brokenheartsociety]

ok we have something in common i dont trust anyone either one thing ive learned like everyone trust no-one. but I guess without lies there wouldnt be the trueth without dark theres no light and with evil theres no good. Jealousy and Lies
|
Geez, this crap gets so confusing. I never know what to say. I need a good lawyer Like Johnny Cochran there when she starts. Right now we are on our 4th breakup because she can't "trust me". Now mind you, I have never even looked at another woman but I keep compensating like you and it keeps getting worse. At least you know the trigger point, I don't. She clubs me like a baby seal out of the blue. We break up and she comes back later apologizing for being wierd. Ya right! I had to give up all female friends/ acquaintances to make her "happy". She was satisfied with that so she is now digging into my past to find things there. I asked her why she is going over all this stuff that I had previously told her time and again. Her reply was that she wanted to see if my answers changed. She would say "that's not true, that's a lie, that's not what you told me before!" When she couldn't (I wouldn't budge) find anything, she had decided that I was hiding something. She sends me an email stating that she needs time alone to try to figure out why she was so "confrontational". If the marines interrogators at Gitmo were as "confrontational", the war in Iraq would have been over a long time ago. I finally blew and told her that she didn't trust me, never would and never will. I said that at this point I'm pretty damn sure I wasn't the one for her. Her response was "we're through". Ya right, we'll see. I sent her an email telling her in her next relationship she better not do the same thing again. No man with any self esteem will put up with that crap. Either you trust him or you don't, it's that simple. No relationship should be an ongoing trial by fire. I love her with all my heart but enough is enough. Dave []

Boob Etiquette: A Magnetic Distraction
|
If I had icing on my breast and a male colleague of mine pointed it out to me, I would probably pray for the floor to open up and swallow me whole. You did the right thing by not saying anything - but who can blame you for looking? Hell, I probably would have been looking myself. Nobody can resist a nice rack. And I'm not even remotely interested in women. If she didn't want people to notice her boobs, she wouldn't have worn a shirt that showed them off. Now what would have been super funny is if you'd just reached over and wiped the icing off yourself! Can't you just see the look on her face??? Makes me chuckle just thinking about it! Yeah, boob etiquette can be a little trying. Your best bet, I think, is to steal glances and let the other women in the office tell her she's got something on one of her boobs. I bet it added a little bit of spice to your day, huh? [Texasheather]

Boob Etiquette: A Magnetic Distraction

I think it depends entirely on what kind of woman she is. Personally, I think you did the right thing. I would have been so embarrassed if that was me and you pointed it out to me. But some women probably put bits of food down there on purpose just so guys notice their chest area, really us girls scheme about these kinds of things for hours on end. How do I get a guy to notice me? I know, wear a low cut top and short skirt and dust some crumbs into my cleavage etc...

The 70's Ice Age
|
In response to riverman's question. Yep, I truly believe it is a bunch of BS. I've really studied on this thing and I think that at worse, we'll see a slight (less than .5 degrees) change in temperature in the next 50 years. It's all hysteria. It's our nature as humans to fear the "end". Check out Michael Crichton's newest book, "State of Fear". He recently studied up on this stuff and turned from a true believer into a true skeptic. Anyone would if they really looked past all the hype and into the facts. --- Scott

The 70's Ice Age
|
This is interesting. I don't really follow environmental issues but I was under the impression that it had been proven that if we do not reduce carbon emissions to an 'acceptable' level within the next 30 years then we're all in an irreversible boiling pot. I briefly watched a Mark Theroux documentary the other night and he concluded that it is no longer a case of us attempting to control nature but now a fight to defend ourselves against it's wrath. Is this all b.ollocks?[Riverman]

The Road Less Traveled
|
My advice (and since I'm 21 I'm not sure how valuable it is) is to pursue your dreams. Sure, you could carry on doing your 'cruddy job' and pursue real estate on the side, but how tiring would that be? And would you have enough time anyway to actually make a proper go of it? Somy advice would be to just chuck your job. If things go wrong you can always get another cruddy job to tide you over financially before carrying on. Or maybe you could take a sabbatical from work, if they allow it? Then if things go to plan you can ditch them, and if it doesn't you can go back to working for them. I may only be 21 but I've had a lot of those sort of decisions to make and, trust me, it's better to know than to wonder. [Catpea33]

Comin' Back Down
|
Mister, you crack me UP. I have not read a single journal on this website that I found as amusing and witty as yours is. You are my new hero. I read your stuff, and I think to myself, "why in the WORLD didn't I thinka that?" I like you. You're all right by me. Heather p.s. I'm not usually one to give advice much to strangers, on account of how it's so personal and all, but I think maybe this one time it won't hurt to offer my 2 cents (leave a quarter in my inbox, please...)...... the girlfriend needs help. Honestly. I gotta lotta bitch in me, but even I have never gone to the extremes that you've written about. My friends call me the princess because I'm so spoiled sometimes, so used to getting what I want. But this? This is just too much. It makes me want to take her by the shoulders and give her a good shake, say to her, "Listen, girl... he's a good man. He loves you WAY more than you deserve, he's put up with a lotta crap outta you, and if he wants to check out a little tits n' ass on another woman from time to time, indulge him. It'll make things more interesting in the longrun!!!!" Doesn't she know that it's not attractive for a man to have a jealous woman up his ass all the time? Doesn't she realize that it's not going to score any points for her? Is she clueless to the fact that she's irrational? Who raised this girl, anyway? And, do you think maybe you could osmosis me some guitar lessons? I'd be forever indebted. Got this takamini and dunno how to strum it. durn it. Happy Tuesday.... [MeHBee]

Cold War: I Remember
|
Hi, Scott. Just wanted to say thanks for your comments in my diary. But, i was wondering...you said you wanted to break up with your gfriend, but your guilt won't let you. Were you talking about the SAME chic you wrote about in your very first entries? I read the first five pages about her, and well, good luck with that one! It's kinda sad, too, bcs you wrote those entries, what, 2 years ago? I hope alot has changed for you since then, and for the better :) One of my favorite quotes- "In the midst of winter, I learned that in me is an invincible summer." Keep your head up, guy :) Take care. [SimplyComplicated]

A New (old) Book
|
It never ever sinks in but it does say that the word is a double edge sword. So it will eventually, If you let it, cut away all the dead flesh that we call life. That isn't really a bad thing but it hurts like heck. The Bible also says that the word will cleanse you like water (my own words) but and Romans 12:1-2 is good. manders~ (wonded) [manderinorange]

Hey! Hope ur feeling better. Look- wotever happened in the past is in the past but when the past comes up in conversations it always ends up in arguments...u prob experienced this! All i can say is at least u r telling her the truth and even though it is bringing all this misery as a consequence, at least u know in urself that u have done the right thing. As 4 us gals we tend to need a lot of maintenance in the "assure me that u luv me" dept (sorry!) But anyway...i hope it all works out 4 u. I would b happy to hear ur advice on my story...write me if u have time. ~Ashantee~ [Ashantee]

Deep Thoughts and Stupid People

Hey, any small thing is good. I'm glad you managed that, hehe...a small victory. Anyway, I hope the mole turns out to be nothing, I'm sure it will. Don't worry about all your typos, heh...I have to admit, I don't even notice. My brain tends to supply what it thinks should be there to make it make sense, with what is there....so the odd wrong word, I don't really notice, lol. You've planned out breaking up with her? Good luck...I hope you manage to get the courage to do it soon, and I hope it goes alright. It might not go to plan though, if she's as bad/worse than you say. I know, stating the obvious again lol..but that's just me. Take care, luv n hugz, Lil [phoenixfire3]

Like ladycobra said in your last entry, stop being so hard on yourself - you can't change the past, and she should concentrate on your future and present, instead of dwelling on the past. Congrats on the band, that's cool :) I'm sorry about your back though, I know that sucks. Well done on sticking to your guns, yes, she went to bed in a bad mood, but she woke up fine, so maybe it's not so bad. One battle's won, maybe she'll not be so bad in future? I dunno, just a thought. As for my comment on one of your last entries...I know stating to break up was obvious, but I tend to ramble and stuff, and state obvious things lol. Anyway, take care, luv n hugz, Lil [phoenixfire3]

Age and Experience
|
Stop being so hard on yourself. You can't change your past and since you weren't with her then you have nothing to feel guilty about. She needs to concentrate on what's happening in your lives now and forget "back then". I would also like to add that although only you can decide what's best for you, life is too short to live with the green monster. [Ladycobra]

Jealousy and Lies
|
Wow. No offense hun...but it sounds to me like there is something kinda wrong with your girlfriend. Don't snap my head off, and don't take this the wrong way. But...jealousy on that scale isn't natural...and to have to stop using words altogether??? Something's kinda wrong there. And, to be honest, I don't think it's 'cause you caved, or 'cause you lied. If she's that persistent and that jealous about things...then, what choice do you have? It's either that, or you lose masses of sleep, etc. She must be extremely insecure in herself if you can't even call scenery beautiful, or puppies cute. And the fights don't do either of you any good, especially you it seems. I think..although this is just my opinion..that, you should get out of this relationship. It's not healthy, for either of you, you because you have to watch yourself so much, or you end up fighting. In relationships you should be able to be yourself, not have to watch yourself every second of the day in case you say something wrong. Anyway, please don't take any of this wrong, it's just my take on what you've written in your entry. Take care, luv n hugz, Lil [phoenixfire3]
